Superstition FAQ’s

Will the band travel?

Yes, by arrangement the band will travel anywhere in the UK. Significant distances will incur additional expense however.

How much do you charge?

The cost of hiring Superstition depends on which size band you are using. The best thing to do is get in touch for a quote and we can take things from there.

Where are you based?

Superstition are based in South Devon, UK. We typically play venues all over the South West, from Bristol down to Cornwall, although we do travel further afield if required.

How do I enquire about booking Superstition?

You can use the Contact page on the website, or call Simon Woods-Tucker on 0330 223 27190 (Local Rate Call).

How do I confirm a booking?

If you decide to book Superstition, we will send out two copies of our contract for you to sign, one of which you must return by post, along with a 25% deposit.

When do I make payment?

A 25% deposit is required when making a booking. The remainder should be paid 28 days in advance of the event, or on the day of the event. We accept cheques and bank transfers, but you can also pay the balance in cash on the night if desired.

Can you provide a DJ?

Absolutely. We offer a free DJ with every booking. Our experienced DJ will keep the music going between the band’s performances and until your finish time if required.

How long do the band need to set up?

A minimum of 1.5 hours is required to set up and complete a brief soundcheck. This might be slightly longer if you are booking the larger band with a brass section.

What line-ups are available?

The standard line-up of Superstition is a four-piece band (lead vocals, guitar, bass and drums). We can also offer an additional two-piece brass section (trumpet and saxophone) for an additional cost. Another smaller option is as a Duo.

Can we choose the songs you play?

We don’t typically allow customers to choose entire setlists, although if there are particular songs in our repertoire that you would definitely like to hear, we would be happy to accommodate you. Similarly, if there are songs that you don’t want to hear, that’s OK too! Superstition have many years of experience to draw on when choosing material for an event and you can rest assured that you will be in safe hands with regard to the songs played. It’s more fun for us if the dance floor is packed all night!

Will you play our first dance?

By arrangement we would be very happy to do this. We require at least a month of advance notice in order to make this happen.

What does the band require at the gig?

We require a minimum of two standard 13amp sockets. These must be independent, so not shared with other acts or catering providers. We require a minimum floor space of 5m x 3m to set up. This area needs to be as flat as possible!
